I have asked a few people but I guess not the right ones or not at the right times! So I was hoping that someone on here would be able to answer.
Is there anything that I can take down for the missionaries already in Nicaragua? My aunt and uncle are missionaries and I know they love getting small things like licorice or ranch dressing. Anything we can bring to encourage them?
Also, will we be able to leave anything in Nicaragua over Christmas break? I know that personally, coming back to Nica in January, I will have a few quick flight changes that would go a lot smoother if I only had to worry about my carry-on.
Thanks so much!     –Jessica

  1. Hey Jessica,

That’s a great idea. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to get ahold of them! Dave and Vicki would know. That’s funny though, when I went to Swaziland, Jumbo and Kried, the missionaries there wanted licorice and ranch dressing too! Oh, and I am POSITIVE that any clothing that you want to leave down there. I had the priviledge of doing that, and it’s great. We’ll find a place where they can be fairly distributed. Maybe give them to a pastor and he can fill a need. Awesome idea’s!

  2. I got a question too. Are all the people on the left of this going with us, cuz some of them said like world race and stuff?

  3. Hey, I have one too. What do you guys recommend as far as what type of luggage to bring? I have a rolling suitcase, but I didn’t know if I should buy a large hiking backpack. Like one you would use for backpacking or doing extensive traveling.

  4. Here are your answers for right now:
Jessica – Charles and Sarah Kaye are the missionaries in Nicaragua. I will check to see what they might be missing and let you know. You will be able to leave stuff over Christmas, so you won’t have to lug all your stuff back home.

Caleb – Everyone on the left is going with the exception of the following:
Ashley Hall – Part of the Admissions Team
    Dave Gross – FYM Director
    Vicki Gross – Admissions Director
    Josh Gross – Blog Administrator
Tana Turner has a World Race blog because she went on the World Race and is now one of your leaders.

JD – Bring any kind of suitcase you want. We won’t be doing much traveling during the Awakening, but during the Outreach we might be taking a couple trips for a week or so.

  5. Hey, sorry this is another question, but don’t worry it’s for everyone else.

I am starting up a fantasy football league on ESPN with some guys from college that I usually do it with and I didn’t know if any of you guys or gals wanted to play. Just let me know your email address and when a good day in the week and what time of day would be good. I am trying to do a live draft and it usually takes about an hour.

  6. JD – I love Fantasy Football and am in a couple leagues, but keeping up with it while in Nicaragua might be a challenge. You’ll have limited time at the internet. It can be done, but you won’t be able to spend a lot of time on it.

  7. Hey, I got another quick question for everyone. It seems from reading yall’s bios that we have some very musically inclined people.

Are some of you guys planning on bringing your guitars or not? I have one I can bring, but it is probably not the best quality, so I didn’t know if only a few people wanted to bring theirs and we could share playing back and forth. I am definitely up for some awesome worship time.

I am eager to see everyones talents in all areas of ministry, and know that we can truly reach out to the community where we will be living.

  8. JD, I have talked with Tana about the amount of musically gifted people on the team! We’re both stoked! What an awesome thing! YES! Bring a guitar! It may be a good thing that it isn’t the best quality, as we are doing alot of travel, and well, who knows?! Awesome thought JD, I’ll play the spoons!

  9. JD, I noticed also that we have a musically inclined team which is awesome. I love music but don’t play any instruments. However I would love if someone would have patience with me and maybe give me a few lessons :)!

  10. Sweet, so we have the guitar and spoons covered. We just need to add a saw, a didgeridoo, and a keytar. Then we will have a rock’n band! Good luck getting a musical saw on the plane.

Melissa, I definitely could try to give you some lessons. I am not the best, but I’ll show you what I know.

  11. Here I was thinking “man, I don’t play any instruments” but then JD mentioned the didgeridoo… I can play that one! 🙂

  12. It’s a long tube-like instrument that kind of hums. It’s from Australia 🙂 and it is real.
